Insert Sanford and Son Theme Song Here.

Lately I have been feeling tired, overwhelmed, and frustrated.  The days and weeks are flying by and I don't like it.  I hate rushing around with a hundred things on my to do list and before you know it the day is over.  I'm at my best when life is slow and there is room to breathe.  I like to have a little room on my calendar for nothing, where I can be quiet.  While I'm venting, another thing that has really been bothering me is the clutter in the garage and sewing room, actually the clutter in the whole house is bothering me.  I want SIMPLE.  I'm usually pretty good about what comes in my house, but when life gets busy the house is the first thing to get neglected.
I guess I got a little aggressive on the search for furniture to redo.  I have a hard time saying no to a good deal.  It's a sickness.  I see something and know with a little paint it could be beautiful.  However, that doesn't mean I have to buy every stray piece of furniture within a 100 mile radius.  Lately I walk out into the garage, take one look at the pile of stuff and turn around and walk back in the house.  It doesn't help that my husband is constantly humming the Sanford and Son theme song.

I've come up with a solution.

I am simplifying my life.

I am having a yard sale and selling everything in my garage.

I am going though my house and if it isn't something that I love, it's gone.

Do you need anything to paint!?!?!

Chairs, and tables, and bookshelves, and dressers, and mirrors, and racks, and stools, and clothes, and lots and lots of fun junk!

I am shocked that I had this much stuff laying around that I didn't need or want.  I am feeling better already and breathing a little easier.

I had a lot of stuff that I was going to sell at Metrolina, but now that I am doing the room at Sanctuary all of this stuff has to go.

My pet peeve is a closet that is too jam packed and unorganized.  I spent 2 hours cleaning out shoes, coats, and clothing that I didn't absolutely love.

Fabric anyone!?

If you are looking for some fun junk, please come see me and my friend Kim as we host the biggest yard of the year!!!  Dixie May will also be on hand if you have any questions!!!

This Saturday, October 15th
7am to 1pm
My house
Huntersville, NC

If you are interested in coming to the yard sale and would like directions please email me at buttonbirddesigns@ gmail dot com.  Hope to see you!

  3. Girl, I have the same thing going on in my studio/office/guest bedroom. :) That one room sure does have a lot of shoes to fill, lol. Beads and jewelry making supplies have taken over to the point that I can't get anything done!

  6. It's good for my wallet I live in CT. I'm into fabric now. Other things, too, but I know my limitations and while I hate it, I know it's going to take me a long time with my painful back to do anything. Go to craftythriftydecoratingwifemom.wordpress.com to see our clutter. Just getting blog going.

  7. We are in the process of downsizing for a move. Most of the stuff is things I bought over the years intending to reuse or resale... But then my husband got into real estate preservation and starting bringing home all kinds of stuff.

The stuff took over real fast and all those intentions of selling went out the window!

Clutter makes it hard for me to think straight and I get overwhelmed by it, it is not a good thing at all to say the least.

So we were going to go on a sale-a-thon for the move, but instead we are donating it all.

A lot of it is brand new with tags and all, crazy stuff expensive too.

I just keep reminding myself the proceeds will go to the homeless and we will have one nice tax deduction this upcoming year! Also the fact that I can downsize way faster this way, unclutter and can breathe and think straight, is quite frankly priceless!

So you go girl, clear out that clutter and vow to never allow yourself to get that cluttered again. Set some boundaries and stick to it, I know I will be :)

  15. You are so funny Angela! Trust me in some ways it hurt to donate it knowing how much money some of the stuff was worth and that we could have potentially made off of the stuff and then just donated 10%...

But it's time to let go, move and move with a much lighter load and embark on being and staying clutter free, something I have not been able to achieve much at all since living with my husband for 6 of the last 7 years!

It will be a challenge because I plan on starting to upcycle and repurpose stuff because I have been desiring to allow my graphic design skills to jump off the web and into my tangible life for sometime...

But I am up for the challenge!

Here's to resisting temptation and only getting what we know we can handle and use or resell in a timely manner AND/OR can fit in our space, no clutter, no overwhelment, no hoarding, no delusions that we need more stuff!

And, if we have to say 'no' to some awesome deals we can be in peace knowing there will be more to come once we have taken care of what we have already been BLESSED with. As we make more space, it allows Him to be able to fill up that space with blessings, if we have no space we leave little room to be blessed. And in doing so we are also allowing others to be blessed with some great deals too :)

You can do anything through Him who strengthens you! You just have to first believe, then know it, then put it into action :)

Shalom & blessings to you & yours.

  16. Wish your sale was October 28. I will be in Charlotte for the SES apologetics conference. I have a booth to fill and would love to do some advance bargaining w/ you. Love the globe. I have a collection going and would love to add it. I know how you are feeling. I have several projects going on around here, and if business at my space doesn't pick up I will be doing the same. 17. Um- yes of COURSE I want to go!!! I looked for you at Metrolina but didn't see you. Love my tobacco basket by the way.
I definitely want to come check out the sale- I have a new workshop with TONS of storage!! YIPEE. we are sanford and sons here, too. We joke that we're the Clampetts of Laurel Creek (our neighborhood) and that they put us at the back because nobody wants to see the mess that is our garage. 3 1/2 bays and we still can't park in there!!!

  22. Hey Angela, thank you so much for the compliment! I would love to hang out with another YHWH fearing crafty woman. Your unique flair has really inspired me this past month since I've been reading your blog to finally do one of the things I have been wanting to do for so long.

We currently live in Benson, NC. However, my daughter and I are going to be staying in Franklin, NC with family for a few months until we find a new place to call home.

I have not decided whether I want to be directly in the mountains or more in the rolling hill areas not far from the Charlotte area.

So we will be exploring our options and various towns to find a place for us to start fresh.

If you would like to talk, you can email me at jamiepelaez at gmail.com and we can exchange info :)

I think this scripture might be the most perfect one to remind ourselves why we should not hoard or overspend. Hope this inspires you sister as much as it has me!

    Mattithyahu (Matthew) 6:19-21

19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also.

Shalom & blessings to you & yours!
