Guest Post and Giveaway

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Today I would love to introduce to you one of my dear friends.  She is an amazing artist specializing in murals and painted furniture.  If you are thinking of having a mural done or having some furniture custom painted please keep my dear friend Cindy in mind!  Cindy is doing a guest post today and also a fabulous give away!!!  I might fight someone over this giveaway!  hahaha  Just kidding (not really).  Take it away Cindy......

My name is Cindy Cooper, and my company is, Painted By Cindy Cooper.  I have been painting children’s murals and furniture professionally in the Charlotte / Lake Norman area for 12 years. The best thing about custom murals is that you can name your theme and name your price. You can specify “I want my daughter’s room to be pink and whimsical with a butterfly theme and I would like to spend $300 on the wall decor.

Whether your budget is $100 or $1000 a mural is always a perfect addition to your child’s room. It is amazing how much life the smallest painting adds to a room.

Things to consider:
Placement of mural: In order to get the most out of your mural, place it in a spot that you see as soon as you walk in the room.  Spot mural placed where your eye goes to when you walk in…

Wall color: Choose a color for your nursery that suits YOU. This may be the last time you have a full say in the color. An alternative to pink is lavender and an alternative to blue is lime green. Don’t feel trapped into pink for a girl and blue for a boy.  Yellows and greens can be feminine....

Theme: Choosing a theme can be the hardest part. It really depends on how long you want your mural to last. You can go with what is on your bedding, a generic theme or choose a character. There is nothing wrong with characters as long as you are willing to make changes after a few years. There is someone I paint for that has been very creative with her mural choices. 7 years ago, I started off painting her daughter’s room with a sea theme and the Little Mermaid, then a few years later, I came back and painted over the Little Mermaid (leaving the rest of the mural) adding a turtle and dolphins to the room. Just yesterday the mom called to say that her daughter has moved down the hall and she has inherited the room as her office. I am headed down next week to add more birds and palm trees for Mom. The room has transformed itself from nursery to big kid to office with a little paint.

From theme to not…

Matching your mural to your bedding is another option…

Another nice accent to a room is painted furniture. Kids love table sets that are just their size and I love to paint them!

Thank you Cindy!  If you are interested in having a mural painted for you or your child, you can contact Cindy at coopercouple@bellsouth.net .

  8. I follow! And I would love a "plays with scissors" in pink - I sew custom drapes for a living...I wish I lived near you, Angela, I could keep you swimming in leftover fabric! Although right now the trend is beige linen for EVERYTHING, so the selection would be kind of boring. I never knew there were so many shades of beige....
